Not a State but a Quest

Rather than criticizing
Rather than complaining
BE the change I want to see
Use my words to visualize
For me and for others
The change I want to see
Statements induce a state
Questions invoke a QUEST
For me it is a quest
For The Real Deal

God breathed life into the human
And the human became a living creature
Life was in Jesus
And that life was the light
That enlightened everyone
God’s thoughts are higher than my thoughts
God’s ways are higher than my ways
God’s word never returns void
God’s word accomplishes its purpose
For me God is the Real Deal

He is my Quest

THERE IS A TIME TO MOVE ON

I have been adrift the last few months.  The intensity of family issues and the deaths of several loved ones, especially my mom, have left me unstable.  Death makes one stop and take stock of what I really believe and what it all means.  I became tired of everyone and every thing, except God.  I found that my roots of my faith are deep and that alone works for me.

Everyone has an opinion about God, the church, religion, and life; but I am tired of opinions, even mine.  They are the things that divide and keep us defending and defensive and I am tired of it all.

I do well with my simple faith; it works for me.  “I believe what I believe; it’s what makes me what I am.” (Rich Mullins)  I just want to live a quiet life, think about things I like to think about; write about things I like to write about and tend to my own affairs.  Somewhere along the line I was told I can change the world and fix all that is wrong with it.  Well, I can’t; I can only love and serve God.

I want to think high thoughts and not live in the mundane fruitless world of who did what to whom and that’s not fair.  That mind loop gets me nowhere.  There is so much more to life than the drama I create or that is created by others around me.  I want to walk with God in the cool of the day and commune with Him as a friend.  I want to hear His thoughts, not dwell on mine.  My story made me what I am; now it’s time to BE who I am.  God works in seasons.  There is a time for everything but it isn’t all the time.  There is a time to get over my self and move on.

THE WORLD AT OUR FINGER TIPS

Matthew 4:8, 9

The technology of today puts the world at our finger tips.  It gives us the stone cold facts that provide the bread to feed our mind.  It keeps us alert and aware of the tragedies on the horizon and in a constant state of fear and stress.  It provides mindless entertainment 24/7 to keep our minds busy and our bodies inactive.  There is no need to interact with anyone.  There is no need to think.  There is no need to feel alone.

If the shepherd David had a smart phone or I Pad while he was in the fields tending the sheep, would we have the Psalms recorded in the Scriptures that bring joy to our hearts and comfort to our souls?  Would the disciples have put their game boys down so quickly, left their boats and followed Jesus when he called?  If those we honor and respect as great thinkers and inventors had Google available to them would we ever had their thoughts and ideas about the meaning of life that we learn from and work with in our lives?

There are no students who are learning how to think and figure things out for themselves anymore; only button pushers and test takers.  Technology can certainly enhance, but it can just as easily abort and destroy free thinking.  It fills the boredom of the mind but doesn’t quench the thirst of the soul.  Its place is to be our servant and be mastered by the user.  But if it becomes the master then the user becomes its slave and loses one’s life to serve the machine.

True Freedom is Found Only in God

When the unique becomes the norm, it isn’t unique
When the alternative becomes the norm, it isn’t alternative
The ways of Monsanto infiltrate all we do and think these days
Taming the wild, harnessing the growth
Killing the organism for the sake of organization
Conforming the organic
Obliterating the creative
Taking the flavor out of everything living
Looking good but the life is gone.

Constantine and the church fathers did it to the people of the Way
To God’s special possession
Making us slaves to our denominations
Making us slaves to our doctrine
Turning our loyalty from the Living God
To the golden calves we create
We are asleep and lazy
Easy prey for those who have power and control
There is nothing new under the sun.

Jesus offers the yoke
Man constructs chains
The yoke makes us free
Man’s chains makes us slaves
