VII. HOW SHOULD I THEN LIVE?

“The secret counsel of the Lord is for those who fear Him,
And He makes known to them His covenant.
Psalm 25:14

I enjoy a good discussion.  I do not enjoy an argument or a pontification.  In a discussion people listen with respect for one another and for what one another is saying, even if they do not agree with one another. Each one can learn something from the other that may effect a change in their thinking or a strengthening of what they already think about what they are discussing.

Behind any discussion is a foundational element.  It is a person’s point of view.  A person’s point of view affects all that is seen and believed by that person.  That point of view has been affected by many things; one’s background experiences, one’s education, one’s commitments, one’s feelings, and so on.  Points of view are developed over years of processing life and information; they are the foundations on which ideas and opinions are built and maintained.  They are not permanent but they are not easily changed.

I see the world through my point of view.  I see situations through my point of view.  They are very different from some others and very much the same as some others.  But in the end I can only speak to things from my point of view.  It is objective and therefore not absolute Truth.  I found that to be limiting so I spent time searching for Truth that was absolute.

I found that absolute Truth in a covenant relationship with the God who is the Creator of the world, with His Son Jesus who puts me in right relationship with his Father, and the Holy Spirit who works within me to live out that relationship.  It is from this point of a covenant relationship that I live, move, and have my being.  It is from this point of view that I see the world and make my decisions from.

I know that God’s Word is true because I have seen it work time and time again, not only in my life but in all of life that surrounds me daily.  I believe that God’s Word is true because it is spoken from a high place and reveals the bigger picture, the whole of things from the beginning to the end.  The Word is spoken through nature, through the Scriptures, and through His Son Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life of all that is created.  As a Covenant woman I have access to all I need to live a life that pleases God.  It humbles me that as an imperfect creature I have access and find the favor of the God who created all living things.  God is my point of view, my world view for all things on this earth and in the world to come.  This is how I should then live.
