Jesus didn’t come
to earth to give me a religion. He came
to show me a way of life. Jesus didn’t
come to earth just to teach, reprove, correct, or train me in righteousness. He came to show me what an intimate
relationship with God is like. Life is
more than fulfilling religious obligations and reading the Bible. Life is being in an intimate relationship
with God, unceasingly, 24-7. That is
what was broken in the garden; that is what was finally fixed on the cross, and
was recovered and restored in the Resurrection.
When I attend
services, practice my spiritual disciplines, and read my Bible through those
eyes, everything comes into focus and makes perfect sense to me. It’s all integrated in a life I am to live,
who I am to be, and what I am to do.
Jesus came to
earth to be a Savior; from the sins of the world, from my own personal sins,
and from myself. I want to dwell with
God in perfect union with Him. I want
Him to be my God; to love me as His child, to lead me, teach me, guide me, and
show me all He is and all He does.
Jesus came to
earth to live and die to make that all possible for me; for all His
creation. All I have to do is receive
Him and believe in His name. No wonder a
multitude of the heavenly host came the night of His birth, praising God and
saying, “Glory to God in the highest.”
No wonder wise men from the east journeyed long, following only a star,
and when they saw the child they fell down and worshipped Him.
How can I do
anything less than love Him, follow Him, and serve Him all the days of my life?
