“The secret things belong to the Lord our
God,
but the things that are revealed belong to
us and to our children forever,
that we may do all the words of this Law.”
Deuteronomy 29:29
God came to earth
in secret the night He was born in a manger in Bethlehem .
No trumpets, no press release, no breaking in our regular
broadcast. Not even the Inn keeper was awakened.
A song of celebration was sung in the heavenlies. Angels went and told some shepherds out in
the field tending to their sheep. A star
alerted three wise men from the East.
But other than that this was a quiet event; an event that changed the
world forever.
That seems to be
the way God does things; in secret and far from the maddening crowd. He speaks and deals with individuals
quietly. Then those individuals do
perform deeds beyond measure. It is in
stillness and the solitude that God speaks His plans and prepares His people. The deeds are miraculous and the affects are
eternally magnificent. But they were all
born in secret and in silence.
It makes me wonder
as I live in a world full of much noise, what is being planned in secret, and
who is God preparing in the silence.
