Children stop, look, and listen

They learn who they are and how to be

By absorbing their surroundings

The leaders of the world are shouting

Violence and vengeance; hate and kill your enemies

It is the only way to keep us safe

Oh leaders…Where is your leadership taking us?

Into a world where there is no love

Where there is no understanding

Where there is no mercy or compassion

Your leadership is leading us into the darkness

Into a place filled with fear and distress

And this is where you think we will feel safe?

Children surrounded by hatred, violence, and vengeance

Will grow up to hate, be violent, and demand vengeance

They will become the terrorists who will turn on you

For it is from you that they have learned

Who they are and how they are to be

The blood on your hands will become your blood

On the hands of the children you have taught

The children you have led into the darkness

The children you surrounded with hatred, violence, and vengeance

Leaders of the world, STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN to the children

The fate of the future depends upon them

And what they learn from you.
